Clarissa's Introduction

Hello! My name is Clarissa and I am from the country that boasts 7600+ amazing islands, the Philippines. At a young age, I already knew I wanted to be a teacher but my family persuaded me to choose another course. So, I left our home at the age of 16 to pursue a management degree and try my hand at being independent. Being an only child, my decision came as a surprise to my parents but I thought it was my only chance to learn things on my own. The first few months were challenging but the rest was a rollercoaster of fun and crazy things.
After getting my college degree, I was hired as a customer service representative in an outsourcing company. The accounts I worked for were both in the travel industry and before long, I found myself assisting customers from all over the world with their travel plans, looking for the best hotels and flights, and in the process learning more about the wonderful world we live in. Eventually, I moved to the training department and rediscovered my passion for teaching. I stayed in that department for 8 years working in various positions and meeting with clients. I even got the chance to travel abroad!
But like with any good book, one chapter has to end for another one to begin. It was time to fulfill my dream of teaching a language. I took an online TEFL training course with International TEFL Academy in Chicago and completed my practicum at the Academia Language and Review Center here in the Philippines. After that, I finally received my TEFL/TESOL certificate. I left my previous job and had a break before going back to the world of work. Then, I landed an online teaching job, and a month later, my work in Eigooo.
I love my jobs because I get the opportunity to help someone learn something new and I get to speak to people from all over the world using the language that I love! Working online also gave me the flexibility of spending more time with my family and friends and exploring the world for new cultures and experiences. Whenever I can, I travel to an island that I have never been to before to try the local food and see nature. I love the beach so much. I hope one day I can have a house on an island by the beach! When I can’t travel, I like to watch series and movies. I really love anime and I am a huge fan of Studio Ghibli’s and Mamoru Hosoda’s movies. And yes, I’ve cried while watching some of them.
I am excited to meet each one of you so I hope I get to chat with you soon. Let’s Eigooo!
